Veterinarian
Dr. John H. Carr
Veterinarian
Dr. Carr grew up around animals, having several pets and spending time on his uncle’s farm. At a very early age, he bonded with animals, often spending all day outdoors catching frogs, snakes, and turtles. He has always been passionate about caring for animals and helping their owners to be the best pet care providers they can be.
Dr. Carr started Carr Veterinary Hospital in February 1994 in Greensboro, NC. The current location in Oak Ridge, NC opened in October 2012. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to opening the animal hospital, he worked in small animal practices in the Greensboro area.
He served as class president throughout veterinary school and received numerous academic and merit awards. He has special interests in surgery, internal medicine, dental care, ultrasound, and preventative care. He has actively participated in continuing education programs throughout his career in surgery, cardiology, dermatology, ultrasound, dentistry, feline diseases, behavior management, pain management, and advanced diagnostics.
He is also a member of the Nat Green Kiwanis Club, St. Paul the Apostle church and is a past member of the Advisory Board for the ArcBarks Dog Treat Company (affiliated with the ARC of Greensboro). Dr. Carr serves on the Board of Directors for the Merchants of Oak Ridge.

Kayleigh

Favorite Animal to Work With: All of them (except snakes)!
Areas of Special Interest: Hospital operations, team leadership, client experience
Kayleigh began her journey in veterinary medicine in 2022 as a part-time customer service representative. With a natural ability for leadership and a deep love for animals, she quickly moved up in the field and officially joined Carr Veterinary Hospital as Hospital Manager in January 2025.
While she admits it would be impossible to choose a favorite animal—because she’s never met one she didn’t love—Kayleigh is certain of one thing: snakes are not her favorite. At Carr, she focuses on fostering a supportive and efficient environment for both the team and clients, with a strong passion for client experience and hospital growth.
Outside of the hospital, Kayleigh enjoys spending time with her family—especially her two children. She also loves shopping, refinishing furniture, pretending to be an interior designer, and planning events. Kayleigh loves the sound of laughter and the idea of paying it forward. Her favorite thing to do is make people happy, and she hopes that when people think of her, a warm smile comes to their face.
Kayleigh has four pet dogs (two standard poodles, a Scottish Terrier, and a black lab) and two pet cats.
